Most people know Damon as a wrestler, but soccer was his first love. We are humbled to learn that Ashland School's Senior Night game on October 12th versus Clearfork, will be dedicated to Damon and his passion for the sport. We will have a sales booth at the game to sell DM gear; proceeds from the sales will go to Damon’s IEP Fund. The outpouring of support from the athletic directors and these two schools honoring him warms my heart, reminding me of what community is about.
During Damon’s soccer career he played for Lucas schools, Liederkranz soccer club, Mansfield United, Appleseed and indoor at Ashland AU. While being on the sidelines was fun, coaching was even better and eventually I had the privilege to coach or assist teams Damon was involved in for 5 years.
Although Damon's game may have ended, I hope his spirit lives on with every kick, every goal and every moment of unity on the field that night. Forever grateful for my soccer families that we've spent time with over the years.
Hope to see everyone there. Long Live Futbol!
